Welcome to my fitness blog, started in December 2005 and dedicated to tracking my two primary fitness pursuits: kendo and distance running. I went from 260 pounds in 2004 to my current 160 pound range. This blog is my daily record of trying to stay fit.

June 18: a good start

Nathan was ready to rumble at Potter's Bridge

Kendo: finally...was able to do suburi at home this evening. I felt rusty and stiff at first, but my strikes smoothed out a bit as I practiced. Looking forward to getting back to the dojo tomorrow night.

Running: 3 miles (91). Another light running day, for various reasons, but a good run, nonetheless. Took my son Nathan with me to run at Potter's Bridge (along with my sweetie and my stepson, who walked while we ran). Nathan hadn't been to Potter's Bridge for years; we really enjoyed ourselves.

Nutrition: so far, s good--a solid start. Breakfast: steel-cut oats with strawberries. Lunch: a veggie/black bean burrito at Qdoba's with the kids. Dinner: Morning star veggie burger patty with veggies on the side. Snacked on Clif bars and some vegan-style crackers I found in the house. Worked on putting together a good menu for the week.
